I never planned on becoming a REALTOR®—in fact, my path wound from Ireland to Hong Kong before I discovered my passion for helping people find their home in paradise.
I’ve always been drawn to nature—especially water. For years, I worked on a private yacht, thrilled to spend so much time at sea, but constant traveling eventually left me wanting something more grounded. Out of all things, I chose one of the most rooted paths possible: real estate. Homes became my new horizon.
Looking back, it makes perfect sense. Customer service has always been in my blood. Growing up in Ireland, I started my career in the hotel industry, where I first learned how much I enjoyed helping people feel comfortable and cared for. That passion for hospitality followed me as I chased adventure—first moving to Hawaii, where I worked at another hotel, then heading to Los Angeles to assist a movie director. My work had me traveling all over California and South America, and my restless spirit wanted even more.
I packed my backpack, said goodbye to L.A., and returned to Ireland to prepare for an epic backpacking journey through Europe and Asia. I traveled by train through Europe, Russia and eventually made it to Hong Kong, where I worked as an extra in movies to keep myself afloat.
That journey was transformative. Traveling solo taught me adaptation, the importance of making smart decisions, and judging other people’s characters. I became skilled at reading people and navigating unfamiliar environments. My confidence soared, and I learned something valuable about myself—people trusted me. They felt comfortable in my presence.
Then life threw me an unexpected gift: I won a green card lottery! That meant I could relocate to the United States. Drawn by my love for the ocean, I chose Florida as my new home. At first, I worked in the private yacht industry as a chief stewardess, once again immersing myself in customer service. But by 2000, I transitioned into real estate.
Working as an appraiser, I noticed something interesting—people, including real estate agents, frequently came to me to price their homes. My ability to evaluate properties accurately became a sought-after skill, and I realized it was time to take the leap into sales. I earned my real estate license in 2004, and I’ve loved the career ever since.
Every day brings something new. No two clients are alike, no two properties are the same, and every transaction comes with its own challenges and rewards. Beyond that, being a REALTOR® has deepened my appreciation for Florida—a place I consider paradise. I love showing clients the area, helping them not only find a home but also discover the incredible lifestyle here.
I’m an outdoor enthusiast at heart, and Florida has it all. Natural springs in Northern Florida. Paddle boarding. Early morning kayaking. I’m constantly reminded why I chose to make this place home.
Outside of work, my love for water carries me to new destinations whenever I can. I’ve fished across Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, always chasing the next adventure. At home, I’m devoted to my Japanese Shiba Inu, Hatchi, who keeps me endlessly entertained. I also volunteer with a local rescue foster home for dogs.
My path to real estate wasn’t linear—it was shaped by exploration, adventure, and an unshakable love for connecting with people. Today, I bring all those life experiences to my work, helping clients navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives with confidence and care. And while my journey has taken me across the world, I’ve never felt more at home than I do here, helping others find theirs.
With 20 years of experience as a REALTOR®, I’m passionate about helping clients discover all that Florida has to offer—from its rich cultural diversity to its stunning natural beauty. Exceptional customer service is at the heart of my work; I always answer my phone or return calls promptly. I stay on top of market trends, changes, and best practices to guide my clients confidently.
Over the years, I’ve built a trusted network of vendors, including handymen, painters, and house cleaners, to ensure clients have reliable support whenever needed. My background as an appraiser provides a unique advantage in negotiations. I understand the true value of a home, which allows me to secure fair prices for both buyers and sellers. This combination of market knowledge, strong negotiation skills, and dedication to client satisfaction sets me apart and ensures a rewarding real estate experience for everyone I represent.
Sincerely,
Sue McClay
